Why are white paintings magnificent works of art? Why especially when the most common response after viewing a white painting is my child could have painted this. The true question to the viewer is could you really the textures he achieved and would you know how too? As a painter I find minimalism and deconstructing a painting to be harder than creating a complex one. Mainly because of the self restraint that would need to be present while creating. Imagine yourself writing a letter. Then imagine yourself decreasing your pressure steadily as you continue to write. You begin to think more now then when you were just writing to write. The process of restraining while creating opens the composition to other possibilities outside of the obvious visual. Textures, tone, and the layout of those aspects becomes the composition. Maybe to some a white painting will just be seen as only white but true courage would be to try it yourself.
