Why choose Uranus?
Uranus, the seventh planet from the sun was the first planet found with the use of a telescope by William Hershel in 1781. Its’ unique icy blue color is a result of red light absorption from the sun, by Uranus’s methane atmosphere and blue light emissions being released into space. Uranus also possesses 13 faint rings and rotates at a 90-degree angle from the plane of its orbit.
Uranus is one planet that was not known to ancient societies. Uranus was named in 1781 from astronomer Johann Bode’s suggestion to name the planet after the King of the Greek God Ouranos. Uranus is the only planet named after a Greek Deity instead of a Roman Deity. Uranus was god of the sky born from Gaia, mother earth. Uranus was the Gaia’s son and husband born from Gaia alone.
