Winter Butterfly Dreams... Near Completion

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are all doing well. As of lately I've been experiencing a roller coaster of emotions with the recent death of my father. My father he was very quiet and had an interesting way of voicing his opinion. I'm very grateful to have had a father that supported my dreams, hopes, and aspirations even at the expense of my mothers wrath. One time he brought me a cat home and neglected to get her neutered then I ended up with 20 cats, or the time he let me roller blade in the house while my mother was at parent teacher conferences, or the time he bought me a $4000 camera because I began to flourish in photography. I don't have regrets I only wished my future children could have met the wonderful man I call my father. I will forever miss having someone help me problem solve attaching metal, glass, functional clocks, and whatever else I could think of to my paintings.

Hello Everyone,
This week I have been running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I've been to trying to solve life's greatest mystery, the use of Winsor and Newtons artist painting medium through oiling out methods. since last week I have emailed five companies and five professional artist with no for sure answers. Some had advised against oiling out before varnishing, some see no harm, and youtube videos have only made the confusion worse. please tell me have anyone used Winsor and Newtons artist painting medium, did it turn your painting yellow over time? I could really use your opinions on this product.

Hello Every! I finally have a photo of all of my paintings thus far. Although I haven't finished my painting for Belle I thought it would be nice to see them all together. The paintings are lined up in order of creation, start to finish. Snow white was the first Disney Princess I started with created based upon vanity and your inner vices. With the creation of Snow White sparked the ideas for other princesses with their stories. The last image, Belle is a work in progress but will be completed soon, with completion photos. For detail Tuesday I have a close up of Belles hand. I'm very pleased with my progress hand thus far.  After re-rendering, re-proportioning, color re-evaluation I finally accomplished the desired look I wanted for Belle. With the hand being foreshortened I had to acknowledge light and form changes as well as have accurate proportions.  Stay tuned for more art progressions on Belle and future paintings to come! Flash Back Thursdays!

For flash back Thursday today I have a a quick 10 min drawing when I began working in oil pastels. When I began experimenting with pastels I learned the quality of materials mattered . The pastels I started using were not high quality pastels but student grade pastels. Student quality pastels aren't terrible, I just wanted a pastel that was like oil paint., something easy to manipulate.  The lower quality pastels didn't apply as smoothly as I would have liked and didn't blend as oil. When I did invest in more expensive pastels I did so with sennelier and noticed the difference immensely. Senelier pastels were vibrant , had a smooth application, and were easy to blend. If our looking for a higher grade of artist pastels I defiantly recommend sennelier pastels.  The first image below shows student grade pastels vs the second image created with sennelier oil and soft pastels.

Textures and Tints of Belle

Hello Doll family, good morning and happy Detail Tuesday! For Detail Tuesday today I have a close up of the progress of Belle I worked on last night. Last night I worked on the clothing texture for Belle. Painting Disney characters I don't want them to be photorealistic because they are cartoon characters. As a result I paint them expressionistic and add textures which works together visually. Using a art sponge, oil brush, acrylic brushes, and a spray bottle I created the textures shown below. Stay tuned for more art progressions on Belle and future paintings to come! Belles and Wolves

Hello Doll family,
Happy New Year I hope everyone have had an awesome 2016 thus-far! I've finally had a reality check and started painting again after a long three month hiatus! I've began working on Princess Belle and have been speed painting. Having time to rest I've become a faster painter. I haven't been second guessing my artistic decisions lately after the break. The photo below is the under painting created after 40 minutes of painting !  This  composition will be different than the others  featuring an additional mirror. One within the face, which is typical for my paintings, and the mirror Belle is holding. The mirror Belle holds will feature the wolves which attached her when she tried to escape from the beasts castle.  I'm planning to incorporate the tangible mirror into her hands and paint directly onto the surface.  With the progress I've made I can't wait to see where I'l be at the end of the week.  Stay tuned for more art progressions on Belle and future paintings to come! Also don't forget to subscribe to my blog in the column to the right.
