Hollowdolls is my online art world — a place for my paintings, drawings, characters, ideas, inspirations, and everything else that comes out of my imagination.

I’m a Houston artist, and I created Hollowdolls because I wanted my website to feel like more than an online art shop.

I don't want you to arrive here and immediately feel like you're being told to buy something.

I want you to explore.

I want you to get a sense of who I am, what I’m making, what I’m thinking about, and where the work comes from. The art is obviously a huge part of that, but so is everything surrounding it — the process, the inspiration, the weird ideas, the experiments, the characters, the stories, and the little pieces of life that end up finding their way into my work.

Why I Created Hollowdolls

I've been thinking a lot about how art exists online now. So much of it can feel like marketing before it feels like art. There are algorithms to understand, trends to follow, content to produce, products to sell, and endless pressure to make everything look polished and marketable.

I understand why all of that exists. I want people to find my work, and I want to make a living from my art.

But I don't want the business side of being an artist to completely take over the reason I started making art in the first place.

I want to enjoy it again. I want Hollowdolls to give me a space where I can build something that feels like my world, while also creating a direct way for people to discover and collect my artwork.

I Miss Making Art Just Because I Loved It

When I was in college, I remember having a different relationship with art., There was so much experimentation. You could spend hours working on something because you were curious about what would happen. You could make something strange. You could completely change direction halfway through.

There was an optimism to it. I miss that feeling.. I don't think art needs to be joyless or overly serious to be meaningful. I think there should be room for curiosity, play, weirdness, failure, and actually enjoying the process of making something.. That's the energy I want to bring back into my own work.

Art as an Escape

When I was a child, living in an imaginary world often felt more natural than living in the real one.

I could invent characters, places, stories, and entire little worlds and become completely absorbed in them. Imagination wasn't something separate from everyday life. It was part of how I experienced it. As an adult, I don't think that really changed. I still love creating because it gives me somewhere else to go. Painting, drawing, building characters, experimenting with ideas — all of it gives me an escape from the ordinary world for a little while. Sometimes an artwork starts with something very specific, and other times I’m simply following an idea because I want to see where it leads. That's one of my favorite things about being an artist. You don't always know where you're going.

Building an Artist's World

Hollowdolls is my attempt to build a home for all of that.

You'll find my artwork here, including original art and pieces that are available to collect, but I also want this website to be a place where you can follow the world around the artwork.

I'll be sharing the creative process, inspirations, new projects, characters, experiments, and whatever else I find interesting along the way.

I want the experience of discovering my work to feel personal. Maybe you find a painting through Google. Maybe you discover a character through Pinterest. Maybe you come across one of my drawings on social media and end up here because you want to know who made it.

However you arrive, I want there to be somewhere for you to go next. Not just a product page. A world.
